Should I choose Kotlin Multiplatform or Flutter for a new app on Android and iOS?
Flutter shares almost everything, including the UI, from a single Dart codebase. Kotlin Multiplatform lets you share logic while keeping native screens, or share the UI too with Compose Multiplatform, and it slots into an existing native Android app more easily. If you already have Kotlin code or Android developers, Multiplatform is usually the smoother route.
Is Compose Multiplatform ready for production iOS apps?
JetBrains declared Compose Multiplatform for iOS stable in version 1.8.0 in May 2025. It works well for many apps, but some newer iOS pieces, such as the native text input in 1.11.0, are still marked experimental, so check your key screens early.
Can you convert our old Java Android app to Kotlin?
Yes. Kotlin and Java run side by side in the same project, so we usually convert module by module and move screens to Jetpack Compose as they are touched. The app keeps shipping throughout rather than waiting for a big-bang rewrite.
What does the Google Play target API rule mean for my app?
Since 31 August 2026, new apps and updates on Google Play must target Android 16 (API level 36). If your app targets an older level, you cannot publish updates until it is raised, which often means testing permission, background and edge-to-edge behaviour changes.
